Professional Restoration Detergent Additive for Prepared Aqueous ClO₂ Solutions
Soil Break™ is a commercial restoration detergent concentrate designed to help professionals clean smoke, soot, odor soils, mildew residue, and hard-surface contamination when working with freshly prepared aqueous chlorine dioxide solutions.
Built for use in professional restoration and commercial cleaning environments, Soil Break helps improve wetting, soil release, and wipe-down performance when added to prepared ClO₂ working solutions from 100 ppm to 400 ppm.
This is not a stand-alone chlorine dioxide product. Soil Break is a detergent additive designed to be blended into a freshly prepared aqueous ClO₂ solution immediately before use.
Where Soil Break Fits
Chlorine dioxide is often used in restoration cleaning for odor-related treatment, but heavy soils can interfere with the effectiveness of any oxidizing chemistry. Smoke film, oily residue, soot, tobacco deposits, cannabis smoke residue, and mildew-related soil can create a barrier between the surface and the treatment solution.
Soil Break helps solve that problem by adding controlled detergency, wetting, low-residue cleaning support, mild building, and chelation to the working solution.
Use Soil Break when you need a professional cleaner that helps the ClO₂ solution contact the surface more effectively while loosening and suspending the soils that contribute to odor and staining.

Ideal Applications
Soil Break is suitable for professional use on washable environmental surfaces including:
- Fire damage restoration projects
- Tobacco smoke residue cleaning
- Cannabis smoke residue cleaning
- Smoke and soot cleanup
- Odor remediation support cleaning
- Visible mildew residue cleaning
- Surface vegetative mold residue cleaning
- Water damage restoration support
- Commercial hard-surface cleaning
- Sealed vinyl tile
- Acrylic or urethane-sealed floors
- Painted walls and ceilings
- Washable doors, trim, fixtures, and hard surfaces
Always test surfaces before use.
Directions for Use
- Prepare a fresh aqueous chlorine dioxide working solution at the desired ppm level. Add Soil Break immediately before use and mix gently.
- Do not pre-mix Soil Break into ClO₂ for long-term storage. Prepare only what will be used the same day.
Suggested Use Rates
| Application | ClO₂ Strength | Soil Break Usage Rate |
|---|---|---|
| Light odor cleaning / routine hard surfaces | 100 ppm | ½ oz per gallon |
| Smoke & soot cleaning / washable walls, ceilings, sealed floors | 200 ppm | 2 oz per gallon |
| Mildew cleaning / environmental surfaces | 400 ppm | 3 oz per gallon |
Application Method
Apply by sprayer, microfiber, sponge, mop, or autoscrubber depending on the surface and job type.
For smoke, soot, and residue cleaning:
- Prepare the ClO₂ working solution.
- Add Soil Break at the recommended rate.
- Apply to the surface.
- Allow a short dwell time.
- Agitate as needed with microfiber, sponge, white pad, or soft brush.
- Wipe, extract, mop up, or rinse away loosened soil.
- Do not allow solution to dry on the surface.
For heavier soils, a two-step process may produce better results:
- Clean and remove the bulk soil first.
- Follow with a fresh ClO₂ treatment solution for odor-related treatment.
Finished Floor Guidance
For sealed vinyl tile, acrylic floor finish, urethane-coated floors, LVT, and other finished floors, begin with the lowest recommended rate.
Suggested starting point:
100 ppm ClO₂ + ½ oz Soil Break per gallon
For glossy or delicate finishes, test first and use lower rates where possible. Do not allow solution to dry on the floor. Rinse or damp-wipe if any residue or gloss change is observed.

Choosing the Right Envirotab Tablet
Tab: Directions
Add Soil Break to freshly prepared aqueous ClO₂ working solution. Use ½ oz/gal with 100 ppm ClO₂ for light odor cleaning, 2 oz/gal with 200 ppm ClO₂ for smoke and soot cleaning, and 3 oz/gal with 400 ppm ClO₂ for cleaning visible mildew residue and surface vegetative mold residue from washable environmental surfaces. Use the same day prepared.
- To achieve 100ppm in water, use a 4g tablet for each gallon, a 20g tablet for every 5 gallons.
- To achieve 400ppm in water, use a 10g tablet for every 2.5 quarts, a 20g tablet for every 5 quarts.
